Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Athletic revealed that loan deals for Everton striker Cenk Tosun and Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker-Peters are ‘close’.The Toffees have reportedly been keen to get Tosun and his £100k-a-week wages off their wage bill, while the Turkey international’s priority is to stay in the English game.
In Walker-Peters’ case, the England U21 international would help bolster the right-back position at Selhurst Park which currently only contains one senior option in Joel Ward – Martin Kelly, who is more comfortable at centre-back, has been covering for the former Portsmouth man while he is out injured.
The Spurs academy graduate has made just three Premier League appearances for the north Londoners this season, as well as one outing in the Champions League which came in a 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich – the Bundesliga giants recently saw a loan approach for Wilfried Zaha knocked back.
Should the south Londoners complete the double loan deal, it would mean that they cannot complete any more domestic temporary deals, which effectively rules out the chance of Michy Batshuayi returning to Selhurst Park on loan as has previously been reported.
Let’s see how the Palace fans on Twitter reacted to the news…
This fan named Phil implied that he doesn’t see this as good business from Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman.
Elsewhere, Johnny said that, while “both make sense until the end of the season”, the recruitment at Selhurst Park “has to improve in the summer”.
Another fan simply said “ew” – they don’t sound too happy with the news.
Furthermore, this supporter with the username ‘E-Crystal Palace’ said that Walker-Peters would be “ideal” to get the Eagles through to the summer, before stating that Tosun “wouldn’t be the worst” if Batshuayi is unavailable.
Meanwhile, another fan didn’t think the same of Walker-Peters, saying that it’s “worrying” that Tottenham have just Serge Aurier and him at right-back but are content to let the 22-year-old leave the club.
