The Sun recently reported that Arsenal are hoping to raise £15 million from the sale of out-of-favour Mohamed Elneny, with Leicester City apparently interested in making a January move for the midfielder.
Elneny signed a new long-term contract with the Gunners in March, set to keep him at the Emirates Stadium for the foreseeable future. However, since Unai Emery replaced the long-serving Arsene Wenger in the Arsenal dugout in the summer, the 26-year-old has fallen out of favour.
Playmaker FC’s Theo Ogden was at the Emirates to witness Arsenal’s qualification for the Europa League last 32. Check out his match diary in the video below…
The 67-cap Egypt international has not played a minute of Premier League football yet this season. However, he could still play a big part for many other English top flight clubs, and West Ham would be wise to launch a bid for his signature before the Foxes can land the 26-year-old midfielder.
Manuel Pellegrini’s squad at the London Stadium could certainly do with some additional depth in the middle of the park, and Elneny likely represents one of the few affordable and available January options to have already proved his worth in the Premier League.
Hammers fans certainly seem keen on the Gunners midfielder. 77% of those who took part in our poll voted in favour of signing Elneny. See the full results below.
